BEST OVERALL COVERAGE
After comprehensive market analysis and customer feedback, we combined the most useful and valuable monitoring features into a new license we call Core. When you are looking for all around good coverage for event and performance activity monitoring then core is the logical choice.
JUST WINDOWS EVENTS
There may be Windows servers where you simply monitor the event logs for compliance reasons but their uptime and performance are the least of your worries - such as a file or print server. In these situations the lightest weight Event license would satisfy your requirements.
NETWORK DEVICES
Target the TCP, SNMP, and Syslog activity on your network devices with a Network license; a perfect lighter weight compliment to your Windows server monitoring needs.

MISSION CRITICAL
In a single IT environment you have the ability to run different license types on different servers. For example, on your more critical servers such as Domain Controllers, Exchange Servers, Web Servers and Application Servers, you may require more comprehensive monitoring of logs, performance, status, as well as specific services or applications. Using System licenses is the best choice for these mission critical servers.
MIXED LOG TYPES
On some servers, you may still need to monitor the logs for compliance and reporting but are less concerned about health and status or performance monitoring or perhaps some of these are non-Windows servers (UNIX/Linux or network devices) and have different log formats. On these you can use a lighter weight Log license to accomplish your objectives.
JUST PERFORMANCE
You may find that in some cases there are certain performance metrics you want to measure on Windows servers or desktops as well, but don't need the full feature set of a System or Core license. A Performance license can accomplish this when you don't care about the event logs.
