What's New in ELM 5.0?
ELM 5.0 provides many enhancements to make the job of the IT Professional faster, easier, and simpler.
|
ELM Editor offers Ad-hoc custom reports with NEW Scheduled email delivery as well as on demand print and print preview options. Also included in the ability to report from both primary and archive databases.

ELM Editor report designer includes:
- Full featured SQL editor
- Event View "create report" option
- Integrated custom charts
- Custom html and text
- Multiple sections per report
- Easy to combine reports using cut, copy, paste, rename, and delete
Environmental Alarm is a new Monitor Item available only in ELM Enterprise Manager. It works in conjunction with a Sensatronics EM1 to alert administrators to extreme environmental conditions for temperature, humidity, or wetness. Even in a room without a Windows server, facility locations can be monitored for potentially hazardous conditions.
Environmental Collector, available only in ELM Enterprise Manager, compliments the Environmental Alarm and allows trending of environmental conditions for temperature, humidity, and wetness reported by a Sensatronics EM1. Environmental control system variations can be tracked and reported over time, and then associated with overall server performance.
The Windows Configuration Monitor, available only in ELM Enterprise Manager, extends the current "System Information" folders (version 4.0) that appear under ELM Service Agents and Virtual Agents in the MMC. The System Information will be collected periodically by the Windows Configuration Monitor (in ELM v4.0 it was collected on demand). The ELM Server will generate alerts when something changes in the configuration, and will maintain a history of the add/changes/delete and store only the current configuration. Administrators can compare systems to each other, or make comparisons of the same system over time.

The Agent - System Information folder (see picture above) displays the system information from the last date scanned by default. The filter options for Added/Changed/Deleted are disabled until a compare is performed. A simple right-click in the results pane brings up the menu for the Compare.
System Information can be compared to any system on any date it was scanned. The display will show results as compared to the other agent. For example selecting Operations in the display and comparing it to Annex, you will see the differences that Annex has compared to Operations such as the System Name in the picture below.

Agent Deployment Wizard is a tool which allows large scale deployment of ELM Agents. Systems to be monitored can be specified by Active Directory query, IP address range, or file listing. Agents deployed by the Wizard can be Service, Virtual, IP Virtual, or Staged Agents. The last type allows monitoring of phased deployments of new hardware to readied for easy future monitoring.

EVT File Collector is a new Monitor Item available in ELM Enterprise Manager and ELM Log Manager. It can be used to collect and store the raw .evt files to meet audit control requirements. It can optionally clear the Windows Event Logs at each scheduled collection interval, compress the .evt file, and sign the collected .evt files if a signing certificate is available.
Archive Automated Roller provides the ability to schedule and automatically rollover an existing archive database to a new empty archive database creating the ability to automatically store to multiple ELM archive databases maximizing storage resources and performance.
SNMP Collector is a new Monitor Item available only in ELM Enterprise Manager. It compliments the SNMP Alarm (formerly the SNMP Monitor), and allows collection and storage of SNMP values for one or more OIDs. This new collector will behave like our current Performance Collectors but in the context of SNMP. A SNMP Collector's job will be to collect the specific SNMP data provided by a System or Device using Simple Network Management Protocol and deliver the values to the ELM Server. This enhancement will allow administrators to create, for example, uptime reports for SNMP devices, traffic analysis on routers, and much, much more....
